Why isn't a "nil" value pushed when parent_id is nil ?

I.E., why adding the condition "unless result.value.nil?" at line 70 in file finders.rb ?

MyModel.first.self_and_siblings.first ActiveRecord::PreparedStatementInvalid: wrong number of bind variables (0 for 1) in: my_models.parent_id is ?
