Problem with 'nil' values in scopes (wrong number of bind variables)

Why isn't a "nil" value pushed when parent_id is nil ?
I.E., why adding the condition "unless result.value.nil?" at line 70 in file finders.rb ?
MyModel.first.self_and_siblings.first ActiveRecord::PreparedStatementInvalid: wrong number of bind variables (0 for 1) in:
my_models.parent_idis ?

enhance the functionality of ActiveRecord. It starts by adding better

capabilities which are highly efficient and lastly it supports to_csv
functionality.
It also introduces a cool concept of creating easily extendable pieces
of ActiveRecord functionality, so developers don't have to understand
ActiveRecord internals or have the fear of breaking ActiveRecord
itself.
